Wal Mart

This is in response to my Heathen Homemaking Sister :)

You know listening to talk radio reminded me just how in the tank the republicans are for big business. Lars Larson went on and on about some woman who was on food stamps and rode a bus to Winco for 2hours so she could get decent food prices. He used it as an opportunity to say, "if the city allowed Wal Mart to build in her neighborhood, she could just walk five mins and go there."

Ya...come to find out there were about 4 different grocery stores within 15-20 min walk of her house.

Wal-Mart is the ONLY retail establishment that is profiting while all others are in the crapper. Profits increased 10% last quarter....hocking their chinese wares....great :-/

You know anyone reading this.....let's make this whole over consumption, over production consumeristic, materialistic monster fall!!

Don't buy Wal Mart.

Great News!

Ok so this isn't the kind of news I would usually post, but as I have said many times to my friends.....This is an exciting time for our people. Much like Leonidas talked about Victory when he was standing in front of the massive Persian army (ala 300), we as a Folk too stand looking at Victory.

A sign?

Starbucks last quarter losses....96%

Total revenue worldwide: 5.4 Million....5.4 MILLION....

Many people will lose their jobs...that isn't positive, but when employment is built upon hedonistic, over consumption and over production.... Our Folk NEED this to happen.

Now if we could all stop shopping at Wal Mart, we would be well back to societal sanity.

Home Education Update

Well things have been a little slow. My friend and I are starting a business and with getting a facility, working out funding, creating business plans, etc... Home schooling has been only a couple hours a day, but we are having fun and learning lots!

Gunnar is kicking butt at Math, whizing through it like a pro. Hakon too. I think I may just push him up a math book because I think he is getting board with it. It is too easy.

So we mummified cornish game hens...LOL...It is pretty gross. We are studying ancients and "Story of the World" Activity book had this project where you mummify a chicken. Well my boys both wanted to do it, so we did cornish game hens instead. Well it is working. We are about to make scented oils and wrap them in cheese cloth :). I will keep everyone updated.

Still plugging along on Huck Finn. Boys love the story. Still giggle about Jim and his 'dialect'.

Science has been slow. I always have a hard time with this subject. We read, sketch, etc... but we rarely get to do experiments. I decided that the mummy project is a good science project too, and is biology, but I plan on making a better plan.

Erika is doing ok...a little lazy on her home subjects, but finished Gilgamesh, and is about 1/3 way through Illiad, which she loves. Her paper on Lindbergh is coming along, but my schedule is encroaching on hers, which sucks, but we are working it out. All in all, she is doing great. I am so proud of her.

A super awesome moment. She was almost failing math. Her teacher is the typical pub teacher that is simply teaching towards the WASL and isn't reinforcing any kind of foundation of the previous grades. Erika was frustrated, so we have been working hard on studying and I have had to reteach all the lessons that her teacher has taught in class. THAT is another story, but regardless...Erika got an 87% on her test and her teacher gave her extra credit on all the "reteaching" we did at home!! She was so exstatic she called me at work to tell me. Then she she got an 86% on her science test :). So very proud of herself, and so am I!

Our lives are pretty crazy right now....I work from 12:30 to 9 every day and home school from 6:30am to 12n. That includes all the running from one class to another with my girls....man...Thora needs to get her license! Astrid is being such a huge help. She has shared the taxi-ing duties so well. Thank the Gods for that!

Alright, updated!

OHHHH the holidays, I can't wait to start our 12 days of Yule...be sure to check out Acorn Hollow (www.odinic-rite.org/acornhollow) for many great crafts for all 12 days. Celebrate our unique and valuable heritage!

Please to Remember the 5th of November

Well...Here I am a year of being a Professed member of the Odinic Rite. One year ago, I stood at the White Horse Stone (www.whitehorsestone.org) in front of my closest kinsmen/women, in front of my husband and oldest daughter, and in front of my Elder Kin taking the largest spiritual step of my life, so far!

So many emotions about that day. I could not possibly write them all here. It was Guy Fawkes day, although unbeknownst to me at that moment, but significant I believe. As our Folk stand on a precipice of an uncertain future, only true revolutionaries will bring our Folk back from the brink of destruction. As I stood there, listening to Eowyn OR read an amazing piece, then start asking me each question, there was not one hesitation. I knew I was where I (and our family) belonged. My only regret is that my whole family could not be there. All my friends who day by day stand with us in the fight for Faith, Folk and Family. But they were there in spirit. Connected on a much deeper level. It cannot be put into words, so I will leave it at that.

I am proud to count myself among the few true revolutionaries of our Time. The men and women that make up the professed membership of the OR stand at the vanguard of the reawakening of our Folk, and revolution of the Folk Soul.

Hail The Gods and Goddesses!
Hail Our Folk!
Hail the Rite!

Faith, Folk, and Family!
